Fall End of Season Tournament
1-1-1
Game 1 versus Cape Fear Soccer Club Breakers White. The Cobras went down 4-0 in the first 7 minutes of the game. The boys never dropped their heads and sorted it out. At half the Cobras had battled back to a 4-2 deficit. The two teams battled back and forth and the Cobras netted two more goals to secure the 4-4 tie. Great resilience and a tremendous result.
Game 2 was played on a U9/10 size field against FCCA International. In a frustrating encounter that allowed little room to run, pass or play true soccer the boys dropped a 5-3 decision. The Cobras went up 2-0 quickly and seemed to be in control. A free kick off a penalty found the back of the net when the FCCA kids pushed our players out of their wall position. A lapse allowed a second goal late in the half. The Cobras opened the second half scoring. FCCA was awarded a goal on a ball that did not cross over the line. FCCA was given a free kick from the top of the 18 that was stopped, but were awarded a PK for a push. Two goals were scored from an offside position.
Based on goal differential, Breakers White advanced and the Cobras did not.
Game 3 on Sunday versus FCCA Elite. The Cobras came out relaxed and confident en route to a 4-0 halftime lead. FCCA scored once in the second half for the final 4-1 score.
The team learned throughout this tournament playing in the highest bracket for the first time. Great job to all the boys and parents for a tremendous fall season. Hard work, dedication and support will continue to make us better. |
